Melodic songs and music play in the background at this family-run, Jewish Quarter bistro, harking back to the First Czech Republic heyday- a period of post-war euphoria and excitement when the Art deco style was at it’s zenith and the country was abuzz with excitement. Even though this is the heart of the Jewish Quarter the Bistro is relatively free of the hoards of tourists who frequent the main routes. The prominent corner disposition provides seating along the full-height windows, opposite the serving counter and display cabinets filled with delectable cakes, sweets and sandwiches. And there is further seating to the rear, a few steps down from the entrance.
What is noteworthy is that everything is homemade – ensuring full control of ingredients and quality from start to finish. The day starts with English and Continental breakfasts, served with coffee - prepared with premium, Alto Grande, coffee beans. These are freshly ground each time a cup of coffee is prepared, to ensure maximum taste and flavor. Later in the day the Bistro menu comes into play with quick and light dishes: soup, quiche, club sandwich, goulash and pasta. Finally there is a selection of wines from France, Czech, Austria and Spain to wind down and conclude the day.
