Throughout recent history all the greatest Czech artists - Art Noveau, Cubist, Surrealist - have exhibited at this fabulous 1930s, Modernist, exhibition complex. A full renovation has now breathed new life into it and new management has taken over the gastronomy facilities. The location, suspended over the Vltava river, by a Gothic tower, on an island, mean the views are stunning in all directions. On the first floor an extensive, outdoor, terrace offers panoramic views of the river and boats as they glide
through the lock. Guests dine on grilled specialties here - including prime black Angus beef - prepared on Josper grills, at temperatures of, up to, 350°C. Head downstairs to ground level and the breathtaking ‘Art Restaurant’ with its priceless Cubist frescos, river and park views and elegant outside terrace. The gentile, colonial-club interior with plush leather chairs, parquet floor and subdued colour scheme sets the scene for delectable Czech fare - at very reasonable prices, designed to keep you coming back for more. An unmissable experience.
