This Kosher restaurant, located on the edge of the Old Town, is housed in a grand Art Nouveau building with marble floor and dazzeling chandeliers.
The Jewish Kosher tradition outlines certain laws about the kind of food that may be eaten. For example meat may not be eaten in the same meal as dairy products. Fish, fruit and vegetables are considered neutral and may be eaten with either meat or dairy. For this reason there are two separate restaurants on site here. One serving ‘meat’and the other ‘dairy’. To ensure Kosher rules are applied correctly the restaurants are under the supervision of Rabbi Eliyahu Rotenberg from Jerusalem and the Rabbinat kashrut department of the Jewish community in Prague.
The ‘dairy’ restaurant serves dairy snacks, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, desserts & drinks. While the ‘meat’ restaurant offers an extensive, daily-changing, fixed-price, hot buffet for dinner. The dishes draw inspiration from the cuisine of the Middle-East and Mediterranean. Roasted chicken, beef kebab, fresh fish, risotto, couscous, pasta, roasted vegetable antipasta, a selection of salads, hummus, baba ghanoush, soups, fruit salad, cakes are examples of what’s typically on offer. Friday and Saturday Shabbat meals are also provided in rich buffet style.
